Accessible tourism is a right

Accessible tourism is the ongoing endeavour to ensure tourist destinations, products and services are accessible to all people, regardless of their physical limitations, disabilities or age. People with disabilities are entitled to travel and relax in the best possible conditions, as are families with young children, senior citizens and other people with special needs and their families.
According to the World Health Organization (2011) approx. 15% of the world population having a physical, mental or sensory disability. In Serbia there are approx. 8% of people with disability. Hungary had the highest disability prevalence of EU member states according to Eurostat, November 2015.
This project will raise awareness on this issue through its workshops, presentations, promotions and other activities.

benefits for all

Taleb Rifai, UNWTO Secretary

“Accessibility is a central element of any responsible and sustainable tourism policy. It is both a human rights imperative, and an exceptional business opportunity. Above all, we must come to appreciate that accessible tourism does not only benefit persons with disabilities or special needs; it benefits us all.”
